Have you ever thought of being run over by truck-kun, reincarnated and isekai’d into another dimension, and having superpowers after that? As a manga and anime fan, you’ve probably daydreamed about it more than once!(*devilish grin*) This genre definitely made anime and manga fans all over the world smitten!
There is a new anime series going around where our main character is, well, returned to life and isekai’d as an inanimate object, specifically as a divine sword! Yes, you read that correctly: as a S-W-O-R-D! To make matters worse, after losing his life in a car accident, he has no recollection of how he got there, and not even his name!
But that didn’t waver his spirit, and he started his own journey in search of his wielder and to upskill his newly acquired individuality. He traveled, killed monsters, and acquired the monsters’ capabilities to strengthen himself! And, as the saying goes, no man (or, in this case, a sword) can live alone. Along the way, he met some strong (some annoying) characters, especially his wielder, Fran, a half-human, half-black cat, with whom he would form a strong bond as they went on their adventures!
Why don’t we get to know some of them?
REINCARNATED AS A SWORD STRONGEST CHARACTERS
12. Gyuran
One of the antagonists in the story, is considerably strong but, a proud killer of Fran’s species. He is, in fact, a blue cat, not a human. Was hired to end the life of Fran, but, let’s just say, Fran gave justice to the black cats Gyuran killed before. (good riddance, it is!) His remains were kept in the dimensional storage of Teacher and might come in handy later on.
11. August Allsand
We got to see the “pathetic” Vice Captain of the Alessa Knights in Episode 9 of the anime. The son of Count Holmes, is obviously a character reeking of stench and corruption. He bought his way up to his rank and is abusive of his powers, the “Essence of Falsehood,” which allows him to see through the deceit. “Teacher,” our main character (Fran gave him that name), stole his skill and ended up in despair, thus hiring Gyuran.
His father asked the guild’s help to search for him, and knowing his dirty work, the guild master sent him back to his father, and we do not know what happened to him after. (we don’t care, do we?)
10. Nell
The cute, purple-haired girl receptionist of the guild in Alessa. A polite lady wearing eyeglasses appears to be unable to fight but can unexpectedly throw punches and kicks at rude and entitled individuals. Good thing Fran and Teacher got on her good side, as seen in Episode 2! She assists adventurers with their job changes and gives out rewards after adventurers finish their quests (sounds like a MMORPG NPC). Later, Nell and Fran grew fond of each other and became friends.
9. Garrus
In Episode 3, where an old dwarf seems to be suspicious of Fran and Teacher, he has the skill of “Godsight” or “Heavensight,” which can let him bypass the “Identify Protection” skill concerning a weapon. Once he learned that Teacher was an intelligent weapon, he became exhilarated, as it is his first time seeing one. He later crafted an armored dress for Fran and a very nice scabbard for Teacher out of the loot he obtained from the C and D rank monsters he previously fought.
8. Donadrond
The adventurer’s guild “examiner.” A tall, huge “Oni” that looks so intimidating. The guild members give him the utmost respect even after passing the test and becoming stronger than him, just because he deserves it. Amidst his scary looks, he is a kind beast. And even after he lost to Fran during the examination, he holds no grudges, he is even very concerned about Fran when she gets cornered inside the goblin dungeon and they can’t lend her a hand. Once the quest is done and Fran has gone out victorious, Donadrond praises her and at the same time scolds her for about an hour.
7. Klimt
Alessa’s Guild Master, a wood elf, and a great elementalist. He is a benevolent leader, and considering that he is a guild master, he is certainly a strong character who went through challenges as an adventurer too. As seen in Episode 2, he looks strict but believes in Fran’s abilities, and helps her raise her rank faster than others, which later on raises a disgraceful rumor. To let Fran prove her worth and silence the dissatisfied grumblers, he commissioned Fran on another quest. Of course, despite the difficulty, Fran and Teacher emerged triumphant. Being a leader, he comes up with best strategies for his guild, and would somehow remind you of other anime characters like Light Yagami, but on the better side.
6. Cruise Riouselle
Episode 9 introduced us to this character. He is the party leader Fran and Teacher went with during the Spider Den quest. Cruise, a strong swordsman is the Azure party leader and is supposed to be just an observer during the quest alongside Amanda. He is one tough guy that helped not only his teammates during the dungeon quest but also saved other team members’ lives.
There are also other party leaders with them. Krad is the Dragon’s party leader, and Furion, a wood elf, is the Forest Eye’s team leader. All three are strong characters with unique skills and together with their team members, they surely can defeat high-ranking monsters. Krad, questioning Fran’s legibility and strength, invited her to a mock duel and (of course) lost.
Furion on the other hand is Klimt’s undercover to check on Fran during their mission. He reported back to Klimt through Taura, his spirit guardian, that Fran has no evil intentions towards the guild or anyone else.
5. Urushi
A familiar summoned by Teacher during their Spider Den quest when Fran got teleported to the Trickster spider’s nest. Teacher summoned him to search for Fran since he couldn’t find her, even with Amanda’s help. When first summoned, Urushi was overflowing with mana, so he was uncontrollable and in pain, but once given a name, Urushi got control of himself and now becomes a powerful ally of Fran.
Despite being a dark wolf who employs dark magic, he is a formidable good familiar who would never harm anyone who is on the good side.
4. Amanda
The Ace of the guild, rank A adventurer for a reason. One of the most influential characters in the series, she shows exemplary combat prowess while remaining calm. A beauty with exemplary strength and still very selfless, she is known to be the Guardian of the Children in Alessa since she opened an orphanage way back then to take care of abandoned children.
She is very cheerful around children and finds Fran very cute! (that’s why she’s stalking Fran.) The truth is that when Fran’s parents, Kinan and Framia, died, she felt like a failure. They were under her care before and went on to become adventurers too until they met an ill fate before they evolved. That is a secret she never intends to tell Fran, but who knows? Maybe Fran will learn later about her Mamanda’s secret. (what a cute endearment, Fran!)
3. Fran
Our second lead, the wielder of Teacher, and the one who gave him a name – which made their bond stronger. She is of the Black Cat tribe and was first seen as a slave by traders. Later on, after wielding Teacher, her true personality comes out. She is kind and caring towards any other living things; she is usually expressionless but becomes very enthusiastic when it comes to food (especially Teacher’s curry!) One of the black haired main characters that should be remembered!
She outperforms all of her endeavors due to her strong mental fortitude and will. She also never forgets about one of her goals: to redeem the name of her tribe and finally evolve.
Together with Teacher, she learns a lot of things, whether in battle or in life; she learns to trust other people despite what she’s gone through too. She learned to see other people’s emotions as well and remained humble after all her achievements and popularity.
2. Teacher /Shishou
Our main character, the sword, was a former human being living in Japan who died because of a hit-and-run accident. Reincarnated in an unfamiliar world as a sword, he doesn’t have any memory of how he became a sword, who made him, or even his name. He moved around and killed monsters using his “telekinesis” ability, absorbing their crystals and skills to strengthen himself. When he met Fran, his wielder, he learned about her tragic past and promised himself to protect her as long as he could. He is the best teacher Fran could have!
1. The Gods (Goddess of Chaos, God of Evil)
Fran, Teacher, and the others are said to be living where the gods and goddesses are alive and living with them. The people of Alessa even believed that the dungeons were created by the Goddess of Chaos as a test for humans and their spirits. And that she creates chaos to prevent the world from being stagnant. As for the God of Evil, he was known before as the God of War, but became greedy for power for his own sake, thus evolving to become evil. They are considered the strongest of all since they are the ones who dictate the suffering of the people. They are the ones who decide on the fates of those who are living.
Conclusion
These are just some of the characters that are introduced in the anime series, and since season 1 has recently ended, Fran is on to her new adventure to a different land, called Ulmutt. There will be new characters that she and Teacher will meet or perhaps fight. What will unravel through their journey? Why don’t we isekai and come with them?! Anyone???
